Mother’s Day is this month

- A time to think about our mothers and the mother that we are.

We were not all were blessed with WONDERFUL mothers but it is still a time to consider the mother that we have had.

Prayerfully praise God for her and the influence she has had on our lives. It is time to either forgive her for not being the mother we may have thought she should have been; or thank God for the fantastic mother that she has been.

It is not easy for those whose mother placed them for adoption, abandoned them or abused them. These people carry a heavy load that can only be lightened by the touch of God’s precious hand. I have tried often times to explain that as long as we want to hold tightly to things God won’t have the freedom to work in our lives. If we hold onto anger or hurt, unforgiveness or bitterness, he will let us hold on to it. When we choose to let go of any of these things and grab hold of God, he will begin to heal us of the pain, disappointment and discouragement that we may be feeling. God can set us free to be a good parent, a loving parent. God CAN make something good out of a bad situation.

Some of you are great mothers and you know that you are. You have self confidence and self worth. Others may not be so sure of themselves. Searching the word of God and speaking with other Christian women may answer your questions on parenting, give you the pat on the back that YOU WON’T GET from your family or maybe even help you get on back on course if you’ve gotten off track. We can all use encouragement and direction from time to time.

This is just a brief message to let you know that you are appreciated even though your family may forget to tell you, even though there may not be any flowers or nice cards. Your Heavenly Father knows your heart, what you want to do for your family and what you are trying to do. When He appreciates you and he does appreciate every mother that’s trying to be the best mother she knows how to be, you can relax and realize that you don’t have to be perfect. If you’re hard on yourself, ease up a bit. This is the only life you have, enjoy it a little and enjoy the people he put in your life to help you share it.

Happy Mother’s Day!
