Oh My, It's Spring!!!

What happened?

Where'd winter go?

I was almost ready for it.

I feel like I should be coming out of hibernation, but...This has been one very mild winter in Pennsylvania. The flowers are up, Daffodils have finished blooming already, the Lilly of the Valley are up and blooming. I haven't even had time to clean up the flowerbeds from winter yet, looks like I won't get to that task this year.

Spring is often thought of as a time of renewing; a fresh start. The birds are busy building their nests (I saw a little one yesterday carrying a load larger than it was). The rabbits are chasing each other all over the place. Spring is a time of LOVE. I have a few friends that have been bitten by the love bug so, just incase, I purchased a new can of bug repellent!

It has seemed that most, if not all of my life I've been late. I admire you ladies who are organized and right on track. And I acknowledge that you work hard to achieve that goal. I too have a goal but I am often side tracked. I've determined to fire my housekeeper and my maid the first time they show up at work, that's joke-I don't have a housekeeper or a maid. I'm the gardener and chef also, as well as the secretary, bookkeeper, handyman (or woman in this case) and by profession nurse. And it figures - that expensive perfume that's to make us feel good after we've brought home the bacon and fried it up in the pan...I'm allergic to it!

I'm writing this article rather late in the month it's the 19th and I just finished mowing the grass for the first time this year. The temperature was 85 degrees today, rather felt like a July day. That didn't help my confusion with the time of year.

I joke alot about having to do everything around the house and outside as well as holding down a full time job. I used to feel guilty that I could do it all as nicely as I wanted to.

My yard (some folks have a lawn) has weeds and you can tell that it gets mowed. I try to keep up with the trimming but before fall I find that I've failed again.

The house will doubtfully appear in the Home of the Month Club or any other magazine. You don't need to clear a path to get in or out, but there are times that you could write your name in the dust on my furniture.

But, it's ok. I've come to understand that I may be able to change a few things, and I will continue to try to make those improvements in myself as well as my surroundings. But, it's ok to be who I am. I can't be perfect. That doesn't mean that I shouldn't try to be the best that I can be at what ever I am doing. It does mean however, that I don't need to be ashamed of myself nor of my efforts in the mean time. When company comes and they wish, they may dust or sweep; the more the merrier. Funny, that never happens. They just seem to be happy to be here.

I've always been concerned what people will think. What I've found is that they came to visit because they wanted to be with me, not my house. When I spend my time with them rather than making apologies or going around picking things up, what ever; they leave here having had a good time and I feel great that they've been here.

This spring, don't just take time to pause and smell the roses. Take the time to enjoy some friends, or cultivate one! You may be amazed how they will grow and flourish.
